Weird troubles with lg hbs-730 bluetooth headset

Hello, I've been looking for a subreddit to post this question in, and this one seemed like the most appropriate.

I use a Sony Z3 Compact, and lately I've been having some strange issues with using my LG HBS-730 bluetooth headset. Namely, whenever something like my hand interrupts the line of sign between the headphones and my phone the audio skips, stutters, and is generally unintelligible. This has made it really inconvenient since even keeping my phone in my front pocket will result in frequent broken audio streams. At first I thought it was just confirmation bias, but when I put my hand over the phone in my pocket it gets noticeably worse.

A few other factors that MAY be at play:

  1. Multiple bluetooth devices? I use a moto360 so maybe there is some issue with connecting with both bluetooth devices at the same time? I'm not actually sure if the problems have become more pronounced since I added the watch to the mix, but I'll test it out and update if it makes any difference.

  2. Apt-X? On my old phone, a 1st gen Moto G, I had absolutely no probelms of this kind. The headphones support apt-x loss-less audio, but my old phone did not. My Z3c does, however. If this is the case, does anyone know if it results in a beefier data stream that might be easier to interrupt or trip up? Alternatively, does anyone know how to turn apt-x off? I looked around my bluetooth options and couldn't see any way to turn it off.

Lastly, what complicates matters even more, is that its not always consistent. Generally at the beginning of the day, the bluetooth connection will be stable, regardless of whats in between the phone and the headset. However, inevitably it will come back throughout the day. At that point, if i cover the phone in my pocket with my hand (casually waving my hand over my pocket), the audio will stutter and skip.

The most bizarre instance was one day when I was visiting a friend in his office. I forgot my phone in his office and walked outside getting a good 40 ft between the phone and I with several layers of glass/walls/people/whatever between us before my headphones started skipping due to the distance. When I went back inside to grab the phone though, it would skip like crazy whenever I was touching it.

I generally love this headset, but I don't know what to do. I don't know if its my phone to blame, the headset to blame, or what. Please help, thanks!
