My HTC One M8's battery is going insane - please help! (x-post r/htcone)
Hi guys, I've exhausted every other resource available to me short of sending the phone to HTC, so I'm really hoping someone here can help.
I have an M8 on T-Mobile whose battery has been acting really strange for about a month now. It may have been shortly after I upgraded to Lollipop, though I can't say if that's the issue.
The main issue is that my phone will not charge correctly. I'm using the same charger I had when I bought the phone, but it's been taking an absurdly long time to charge. One particular instance it took 5 hours to go from 85% to 100%, untouched. It will also just discharge when I'm using the phone still plugged in. The battery has been draining much faster than before, but the power usage window shows nothing. (Literally says no apps; I know that can't be right.)
I've tried re-calibrating the battery (dunno if that's a real thing, but the internet told me to do it) by letting it drain and recharge, I've talked to HTC and cleared the cache partition, opened it in safe mode. Nothing works. I'll have it plugged in untouched to charge and the battery will actually go down. I've had my phone plugged in for nearly 24 hours and it's still at 34%. It occasionally shows 66% when powered off, but immediately goes back to 34% and lower. What is going on?
Please help me guys, my phone is the only piece of tech I have left after a personal crisis left me without a laptop. (I'm typing this from a friend's.) I also don't have much money, so I'm really not looking forward to potentially having it repaired. Anything you can tell me would be great - thanks so much in advance!
