Android Device Manager saved all my files

So I broke my phone about a month ago, because I'm stupid. In any case the screen was cracked pretty bad, to the point where I could only use about half the screen. This turned out to be a major issue because I couldn't input my pattern to unlock the phone and retrieve all my files. At this point I assumed simply using an OTG cable and a mouse would do the trick, but it didn't because of the custom ROM I was using didn't have that feature baked in for whatever reason. Then I scoured into unlocking it via adb, and that didn't work because I had USB debugging disabled for some inexplicable reason. Eventually I gave up thinking it was a lost cause, and my files would be stuck in data purgatory, never to be seen again.

Fast forward to today, on a whim I decided to see if ADM could do anything because I knew I had it enabled and it had remote wipe features and stuff. Eventually I realized I could set a new lock through ADM, one that would allow me to only use numbers from the left side of the screen that was still responsive, and voila I can finally backup all my important files.

Just thought I would share this little tidbit for anyone that might be in the same predicament as I was unable to find any mentions of this throughout my hours of Googling for a solution.

Thank You Google, you rock!
