Odd battery usage from apps

For some reason K9 mail and Google Play services have been eating the battery on my Nexus 5 with Paranoid android running Lollipop. I already set K9 to check less frequently for mail on both accounts connected but that did not seem to help. I cannot tell if installing Hangouts caused more usage for the Play services though.

Any suggestions for finding out why these two apps suddenly are trying to use so much battery? I do keep bluetooth and location off and use Wifi when at home. Brightness is lowered too, and I used to get two days on a charge now it is 1 - 1.5 days.
