Is there still no easy way to chromecast downloaded videos from my phone?

Is there still no easy way to chromecast downloaded videos from my phone?

Currently I use the 'cast screen' option. But the video is quite jerky when done like this. There are a lot of third party apps by developers I've never heard of, I've tried a few but none work very well.

I understand VLC is working on this, until they are done is there anything better than cast screen?

I have an S4.
